In the struggle to complete Cameroon's
Unfinished Liberation, in the struggle for the New Cameroon, the heirs of the
first phase of the struggle led by Martin Paul Samba/Rudolf Duala Manga Bell;
the heirs of the second phase of the struggle led by Ruben Um Nyobe/Felix
Moumie/Ernest Ouandie/Osende Afana/Nde Ntumazah/Abel Kingue/John Ngu Foncha
etc; and the heirs of the third phase of the struggle for the New Cameroon led
by the historic Social Democratic Front (SDF) of 1990-1997 where two leaders
(Albert Mukong and Dr. Samuel F Tchwenko) distinguished themselves as those who
did not conciliate even after suffering deprivations, Cameroonians should be
foresighted enough to understand what the struggle is all about, who the
enemies or opponents of change are, who are the allies and potential allies and
how to go about making ourselves the New Cameroonians and forging alliances
with those who crave "The New Cameroon". That way, we get to
understand that all the ethnic groups, religions, regions and linguistic
entities in Cameroon want change and are potential allies. That way, we
understand that the French-imposed system under the Biya regime may be
Beti-dominated all right, but it is not the fault of the Beti people who in
their majority loathe it too. That way, we get to understand that the
Ahidjo-regime was Fulani-dominated all right, but the Peuls were not
responsible for it. That way, we get to understand that the heroic legacy of
the historic UPC came about from the patriotic sacrifices made by all
Cameroonians (Anglophones and Francophones) and that the exceptional price paid
by the Bamilekes and Bassas should be factors to strengthen their unity so that
it would be difficult for those who conciliated with the establishment (system)
to use the hiccups in the struggle to drive a wedge between these peoples.
The New and Fourth Phase of the Struggle
for the "New Cameron" that would complete Cameroon's Unfinished
Liberation" should be all-inclusive and based on the basic tenets of the
ideal that made reunification inevitable and that forced the colonial powers to
precipitate our so-called independence.
