In 1569, Poland annexed the vast Rus(sian) territory  known as The Ukraine(The Frontier). At first, attempts were made by the Poles to impose their culture and religion upon the conquered peoples. Polish overlords governed Ukrainian cities such as Kiev, and Ukrainian youths were sent to the Polish cities of Dubno and Crackow to be educated---(resulting in the mixed Polish-Rus(ian) tongue that is Ukrainian language today.

Introduction of the 1962 American-produced movie “Taras Bulba” featuring American greats like Yul Brynner and Anthony Curtis, from the  1835 novel “Taras Bulba”  by Nikolai Gogol (Ethnic Ukrainian of Zaporizhian Cossack father and mother of part Polish descent). The novel explains the complexity of what Ukraine is today.
